DESCRIPTION

The FOX 2 and HOUND 3 wire tracing kit consists of a premium FOX 2 Tone Generator (Toner) and a newly designed HOUND 3 Inductive Amplifier (Probe). The FOX 2 is a battery operated handheld lightweight multi-function Toner that generates multiple tones, performs some basic telephone line tests (loop mA and line polarity), provides a visual and audible continuity test, and incorporates Triplett’s True Trace and TripLatch tests. The HOUND 3 is a battery operated handheld lightweight Probe, with a thumbwheel Sensitivity control and Signal Strength indicator LED. It improves on previous designs (the HOUND and HOUND 2) with built-in LED illuminators, a bandpass filter, an earphone jack, and an easy access battery cover. An included convenient carrying case (with belt loop attachment) provides ease of use and protective storage for the FOX 2 and HOUND 3. Fox 2 Tone Generator (Toner)


Overload Protection Test a variety of cables with specialized RJ-11, RJ-45, and Alligator clips adapters. With overload protection, the Fox 2 can tolerate momentary and accidental 120 VAC line crosses without damage.	Cordless Phone Interface Send a tracer tone to the base station of a cordless telephone and monitor the tone with the cordless handset. Red and Green LEDs light up to indicate normal and reversed polarity. They also light at the same time for visual ringer indication. Performs basic telephone line tests (loop mA, line polarity, and ringing voltage).	TrueTrace Cadence Shift and Selectable Tracer Tone Positively identify cables or cable pairs with a momentary short (of non-live wire). The cadence of the tracer tone changes, confirming the ID. Choose between a high output warble or pulse tracer tone, useful if other toners are being used in the vicinity.	Tone/Battery LED An LED indicator visually confirms that the tracer tone is on and shows the battery status. A magnetic back allows you to stick the Fox 2 to steel surfaces.

Hound 3 Inductive Amplifier (Probe)


Adjustable Sensitivity and Loudness Control The Hound 3 identifies Fox 2's tracer tone up to 12 inches away with a thumbwheel sensitivity control. Reduce and increase the loudness based on the surroundings (high acoustic noise, quiet office environments) for effective and unobtrusive testing.	Filter Out 60Hz Noise Although the Fox 2 is not affected by 60Hz noise, the Hound 3 will pick it up and amplify it. A bypass filter is built in to suppress the humming and buzzing usually associated with 60Hz noise while improving sensitivity to the Fox 2 Toner.	Built-In Signal Strength Indicator and Headlight A bright red LED signal strength indicator maintains sensitivity, even when an earphone is used. A built-in headlight allows you to illuminate dark areas and reduce fluorescent light noise interference with the press of a button.	Built-In Signal Strength Indicator and Headlight The Hound 3 features a rugged and moisture-resistant 1.5-inch Mylar cone speaker with a high strength alnico magnet. For quiet or noisy environments, the Hound 3 accepts earphones with a standard 1/8-inch (3.5 millimeter) mini phone plug in either mono or stereo. Earphones with shielded wires are recommended to reduce the possibility of feedback from the cable to the probe tip.
